Wir freuen uns die britische Künstlerin CITYTRONIX im FLORIDA im Rahmen einer Artist in Residency begrüßen zu können. CITYTRONIX befasst sich in der Residency mit Prothesen und die Nutzung des Körpers um unkonventionelle Wege zu finden Musik zu schaffen. Die Leitfrage ist, wie Musik für Menschen mit körperlichen Beeinträchtigungen und/oder Nicht-Musiker*innen zugänglich macht und wie dies erreicht werden könnte.
Im Rahmen der Residency wird am Mittwoch und Freitag, dem 18. und 20. Oktober 2023 ab 19 Uhr eine Performance in den Räumen des FLORIDA stattfinden. ‚Pink Mist: VORTEX‘ knüpft an die Thematik der Residency an und wird eine Live-Performance der Künstlerin.
Drew Holliday, alias CITYTRONIX, ist eine elektronische Musikerin, Programmiererin und visuelle Künstlerin aus dem Vereinigten Königreich. CITYTRONIX begann schon in frühen Jahren mit der Schaffung von Musik und arrangierte vor allem Soundbites und MIDI-Riffs auf zahlreichen PlayStation-Plattformen, namentlich Music 3000 und MTV Music Generator 2.
Der Sound von CITYTRONIX ist eine Form der Kommunikation ihrer Zeitlinien im Leben, indem sie Klangerinnerungen einfängt, die ihre Identität sowohl in der Krise als auch in der Beruhigung geformt haben – und die Popmusikkultur, Dokumentarfilme, Soundtrigger, Low-Fidelity-YouTube-Videos, Objekte und so ziemlich alles, was man sich vorstellen kann, umfassen. Klang kennt keine Grenzen, vor allem nicht, wenn es um das geht, was man im Inneren fühlt – es ist grenzenlos.

We are happy to welcome the British artist CITYTRONIX at FLORIDA as part of an artist in residency. CITYTRONIX’s residency will explore prosthesis and using the body to find unconventional ways to create music. The guiding question is how to make music accessible to people with physical impairment and/or non-musicians* and how this could be achieved.
As part of the residency, a performance will take place in the FLORIDA space on Wednesday and Friday, October 18 and 20, 2023 starting at 7pm. ‚Pink Mist: VORTEX‘ ties in with the theme of the residency and will be a live performance by the artist.
Drew Holliday, aka CITYTRONIX is an electronica based musician, programmer and visual artist based in United Kingdom. CITYTRONIX first conceived music creation at her earliest years, primarily arranging pieces of soundbites and MIDI riffs on numerous PlayStation platform releases namely Music 3000 and MTV Music Generator 2 – it is with no doubt that CITYTRONIX has always been an avid sound explorer and audiophile.
CITYTRONIX’s sound is a form of communicating her timelines in life, by capturing sound souvenirs in which has moulded her identity in both crisis and reassurance – encompassing pop music culture, documentaries, sound triggers, low fidelity YouTube videos, objects and just about anything you can imagine or envisage. Sound reaches no bounds, especially when it comes to what is felt within — it is limitless.
