Gewalt der Bilder. Bilder der Gewalt. Selten (in der Geschichte) wurde Materialität von Repräsentation(en) dermaßen beeinflusst wie es heute der Fall ist. Man regiert mit Bild. Man wird vom Bild regiert. Bild regiert.
Mit ihren Filmen (be)schreibt die Künstlerin und Aktivistin belit sağ eine visuelle Anthropologie, mediale Archäologie der Macht der Bilder, Politik der Visibilität und Technologien der Gouvernmentalität (vor allem mit und durch das Visuelle).
belit sağ (geboren in der Türkei) ist Videokünstlerin und lebt und arbeitet in Amsterdam. Sie studierte Mathematik in Ankara sowie bildende Kunst an der Rijksakademie und ko-initiierte zahlreiche sich in alternativen video-aktivistischen und künstlerischen kollaborativen Praxen verortete Projekte in Ankara und Istanbul, u.a. VideA, Karahaber und bak.ma. sağ’s Arbeit wurde u.a. gezeigt bei: EYE Film Institute sowie Filmfestival in Rotterdam, Visual Arts Festival Damascus / DEPO Istanbul, DMZ International Film Festival in Süd Korea, Art Lacuna Film Festival London.

Violence of images. Pictures of violence. Rarely (in history) was the materiality of representation(s) influenced as much as today. We govern with images. One is governed by the image. The Picture governs.
With her films, the artist and activist belit sağ is writing a visual anthropology, medial archeology of the power of images, politics of visibility and technologies of governmentality (especially with and through the visual).
belit sağ is a videographer and visual artist from Turkey based in Amsterdam. She studied mathematics and fine arts at the Rijksakademie and co-initiated numerous projects in Ankara and Istanbul, among others, located in alternative video-activist and artistic collaborative practices like VideA, Karahaber and bak.ma. sağ’s work were shown at EYE Film Institute as well as Filmfestival in Rotterdam, Visual Arts Festival Damascus / DEPO Istanbul, DMZ International Film Festival in South Korea and Art Lacuna Film Festival London.
