Clara Laila Abid Alsstar (Hamburg) arbeitet als Konzeptkünstlerin, Kunstvermittlerin und tritt in spoken word auf. Darüber hinaus ist sie Teil des Kollektivs Third Space: Disordering the Mess und hat mit Mako Sangmongkhon das Duette zum xtenMal gegründet. Zuletzt veröffentlichten die beiden ihre Publikation "Pause not Pose". Außerdem ist Clara Laila Teil des Komitees des Kunstraums FLORIDA Lothringer13. Im Mittelpunkt Clara Lailas Praxis steht die Verarbeitung von situiertem Wissen und Erzählen von Geschichten und dem fiktiven Moment im Narrativ von Erinnerungen. Dabei geht sie der Frage nach, wie individuelle und familiäre Erinnerungen als Teil einer oralen Erinnerungskultur in soziokulturellen und gesellschaftspolitischen Verstrickungen verstanden werden können und diese aus dem Privaten ins Öffentliche treten, sich ihre Trennlinien auflösen und diese dekonstruiert werden können.

Clara Laila Abid Alsstar (1990, Hamburg) works as a conceptual artist, art mediator and performs in spoken word. She is also part of the collective “Third Space: Disordering the Mess” and founded the duo “zum xten Mal” with Mako Sangmongkhon. Most recently, the two released their publication “Pause not Pose”.
Clara Laila's practice focuses on the processing of situated knowledge and storytelling and the fictional moment in the narrative of memories. In doing so, she explores the question of how individual and family memories can be understood as part of an oral culture of memory in socio-cultural and socio-political entanglements and how these can emerge from the private into the public sphere, how their dividing lines can dissolve and how they can be deconstructed.

FLORIDA Winter [retrospective]: AiR und Care
Both formats – the AiR and the Care Online format – are related to questions that we as FLORIDA have been pursuing on different levels for quite a while now: How can we, as freelance artists working for little money in a Munich art space, question and improve existing conditions and structures under which artists and cultural workers are usually invited in the art and culture business. How can we mutually formulate realistic and reasonable expectations, how can good support and communication look like and a fair amount and way of compensation. We want to give ourselves the time it takes to develop more solidary forms of collaboration. This is work we will continue to do, if you have any tips or comments on this, feel free to send them our way.

Since an essential part of the work in FLORIDA can only take place to a very limited extent — the personal togetherness on site — we would like to promote mutual exchange/support in an experimental online format. For this purpose, we invite four participants to the respective dates to get to know each other and to jointly develop strategies for dealing with the ongoing uncertainties and threats. Invited are artists who, in various ways, are addressing the question of how one can create spaces/conditions that help others feel safe and comfortable. This online format aims to create just such a space for the guests.
