BURNING IXXUES
FLORIDA zeigt zu Various Others 21 „BURNING IXXUES“, eine umfangreiche Sammlung von Zines, entstanden während sozialer Bewegungen weltweit. Diese wird um Beiträge von Münchner Zinestern erweitert. Es wird außerdem ein Zine-Workshop mit der Münchner Künstlerin Paula Pongratz stattfinden und ein Online-Vortrag mit ZINE COOP.

Da Sammlung BURNING IXXUES sich ständig erweitern soll, haben wir mit ZINE COOP vereinbart, dass wir diese um einen Open Call durch das FLORIDA erweitern. Wenn ihr also Zine oder Ahnliches zu brennenden Themen habt, die ihr gerne spenden würdet, geht’s hier zum Online-Formular.
Since the BURNING IXXUES collection should be constantly expanding, we have agreed with ZINE COOP that we will contribute to it via an Open Call. So if you have zines or similar on burning issues that you would like to donate, go here to the online form.

Levin Mayerhofer zeigt intime Einblicke in den Alltag eines Trans*manns.
Cordula Schieri verhandelt Geschlechterrollen in ihren Objekten und Installationen, die zudem Aspekte von Arbeit(sbedingungen) hinterfragen.

Wir freuen uns euch unsere derzeitige Residentin vorzustellen: die in Marseille lebende Kuratorin und Aktivistin Claire Astier. Während der Residency wird sie zusammen mit der Künstlerin Ahram Lee in Austausch mit lokalen Künstler*innen, Aktivist*innen ud Kollektiven treten.

FLORIDA Winter [retrospective]: AiR und Care
Both formats – the AiR and the Care Online format – are related to questions that we as FLORIDA have been pursuing on different levels for quite a while now: How can we, as freelance artists working for little money in a Munich art space, question and improve existing conditions and structures under which artists and cultural workers are usually invited in the art and culture business. How can we mutually formulate realistic and reasonable expectations, how can good support and communication look like and a fair amount and way of compensation. We want to give ourselves the time it takes to develop more solidary forms of collaboration. This is work we will continue to do, if you have any tips or comments on this, feel free to send them our way.

Wir freuen uns, euch unsere derzeitige Residentin vorzustellen: Abeer Farhoud. Sie arbeitet seit Anfang März im FLORIDA an figurativen Gipsskulpturen bzw. Reliefs, die sich unter den Arbeitstiteln „Kids in War“ (Kinder im Krieg) und „A wall in a dictator house“ (Eine Wand im Haus des Diktators) mit den Themen Krieg und Tod, Macht und Ohnmacht auseinandersetzen.
We are pleased to introduce you to our current artist in residence: Abeer Farhoud. She has been working at FLORIDA since the beginning of March on figurative plaster sculptures or reliefs, which deal with the themes of war and death, power and powerlessness under the working titles „Kids in War“ and „A wall in a dictator house“.

Since an essential part of the work in FLORIDA can only take place to a very limited extent — the personal togetherness on site — we would like to promote mutual exchange/support in an experimental online format. For this purpose, we invite four participants to the respective dates to get to know each other and to jointly develop strategies for dealing with the ongoing uncertainties and threats. Invited are artists who, in various ways, are addressing the question of how one can create spaces/conditions that help others feel safe and comfortable. This online format aims to create just such a space for the guests.

We are happy to introduce you to the first artist in residence, @nnast_antn, who will work at FLORIDA from mid December until end of January.

In October, Mirja Reuter will spend several weeks at FLORIDA in cooperation with Ruine München for a work residency. Mirja Reuter is an artist and art mediator. In her artistic cross-media work, she has been researching the problem of the female observer since Modernism and the themes of work and time.

Based on an examination of Audre Lorde’s words: “If I didn’t define myself for myself, I would be crunched into other people’s fantasies for me and eaten alive”, the exhibition “At the borderlines of belonging // Grenzlinien des Daseins” centralizes artistic positions of Black Munich womxn through poetry and photography.

Wir freuen uns sehr, endlich das FLORIDA Magazin #6 releasen und mit euch teilen zu können. Aufgrund der aktuellen Situation haben wir uns entschieden, das Magazin dieses Mal online zu veröffentlichen. Es steht hier ab sofort zum Download bereit und kann bei kommenden Veranstaltungen im FLORIDA auch gedruckt angeschaut und mitgenommen werden.
We are very happy to finally release and share FLORIDA Magazine #6 with you. Due to the current situation we decided to release the magazine online this time. It can be downloaded here or you take one at an upcoming event at FLORIDA.
FLORIDA residency in Marseille
We were invited as a committee for a one month residency in Marseille/France. It was organized by the Goethe Institut Paris and Marseille and co-financed by the Cultural Department of Munich. After a lot of back and forth we could spend a few weeks in August and September there, visit exhibitions, meet artists and cultural workers, present the FLORIDA magazine #6 and get to know the city.

eRger im FLORIDA
Den ganzen Juni über hatten wir eRger in den Räumen von FLORIDA zu Gast — um sich zu treffen, zu arbeiten, sich auszutauschen, gemeinsam zu essen. eRger ist ein Kollektiv von Pädagog*innen, Künstler*innen und Wissenschaftler*innen, das sich kritisch mit aktuellen politisch-rechten Entwicklungen auseinandersetzt.
Throughout June we hosted the group eRger to meet and work at FLORIDA. eRger is a collective of pedagogues, artists, and scholars critical of current right-wing political developments.
